Ambassador of Uzbekistan presents his credentials to Vice President of Brazil
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States Javlon Vakhabov has been officially accredited as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Federative Republic of Brazil with residence in Washington, DC.
The Ambassador presented his credentials to Vice President of Brazil Hamilton Mourão.
On the occasion of this event, the state flag of Uzbekistan was solemnly raised in the palace of the President of Brazil, a guard of honor was lined up, a military band played the national anthem of our country.
During the conversation that took place after the official ceremony, the Vice President of Brazil expressed high awareness of the ongoing changes in our country and the Central Asian region. Commenting on the process of reforms in Uzbekistan, Hamilton Mourão emphasized that “Brazil is closely monitoring the reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and considers them very successful”. “Your country has made significant progress, especially in terms of creating a comfortable environment for doing business, and Brazilian companies should not ignore this promising market,” the Vice President added.
Brazil is ready to support Uzbekistan in every possible way in its quest to achieve the goals of ensuring the prosperity of the country and the well-being of its people and is fully open to expanding multifaceted cooperation, the Vice President said. He expressed readiness to share Brazil’s experience in the field of agriculture, in particular, technologies for growing soybeans and sugar, as well as in the field of meat production.
Brazil became the first state in Latin America with which Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations in April 1993. Over the years, our bilateral ties have become intense and continue to strengthen. In particular, in 2007 in Brazil and 2008 in Tashkent, political consultations were held between the foreign ministries of the two countries. In 2008, an agreement was also signed on establishing sister city relations between the cultural capitals of the two countries – Samarkand and Rio de Janeiro. In addition, more than 10 agreements have been signed between the governments of Uzbekistan and Brazil, including the Most Favored Nation Agreement on Customs Duties and Taxes.
In recent years, there has been a strengthening of trade-economic ties between Uzbekistan and Brazil. Thus, since 2018, the volume of bilateral trade has increased almost 7 times – from $51 million to $350 million.
