As Zarnews reported, in June 2011, a resident of Samarkand was sentenced to 8 years in prison. In 2022, his case was carefully studied and re-examined by the Judicial Collegium of the Supreme Court.

As a result, the accused was acquitted. By a court decision, he and his family members were awarded compensation for moral damage during illegal detention.

According to the citizen, his parents died while serving the punishment term, and he was unfairly imprisoned for a long time, where he was subjected to various kinds of pressure.

He also said that for four years his parents, relatives and minor daughter spent about 2-3 days waiting in line at the gates of the correctional facility.

In this regard, the convict filed a lawsuit to recover 200 million soums as moral damages for the mental suffering. However, the Samarkand City Court for Civil Cases decided on compensation in the amount of 100 million soums.

Later, the regional finance department filed a lawsuit to reduce the amount assigned. However, by decision of the appellate instance of the regional court, the amount of compensation assigned by the court of first instance was left unchanged.
