Number of buses increasing in Tashkent, some of them banned from purchasing
On December 15, more than 900 buses joined the routes. On December 16, it is planned to increase their number to 1,000. Among the buses released on the streets of the capital, there are those that have been banned from purchasing since 2018.
On December 13, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the 18th car park of the Toshshakhartranskhizmat JSC, where he sharply criticized the state of affairs in public transport and gave a number of instructions to officials. In particular, it was said that a thousand large-capacity buses should be purchased by March.
After that, by order of the President, an interdepartmental operational staff was formed to eliminate problems in the field and organize convenient transport services for the population.
According to the report of the Main Transport Department of Tashkent dated December 15, on December 14, an emergency meeting of the staff was held, at which an inventory of existing routes was carried out, the formation of passenger traffic along the routes, the technical condition of the rolling stock and the availability of drivers were studied.
“According to the approved route documents, measures have been taken to bring the existing faulty buses into a technically sound condition in order to reduce the intervals of buses and improve the quality of services provided,” the central office said in a statement.
On December 14, an additional 20 MAN A22 large-capacity buses were delivered, and on December 15, another 100 Isuzu buses (SAZ HC40) were delivered.
However, presidential decree No. PD-5270, adopted on December 1, 2017, prohibits the purchase of urban passenger transport that is not adapted for the disabled from March 1, 2018. According to reports, Isuzu is not adapted for people with disabilities.
Also on the same day, Isuzu buses on bus route No. 190 were replaced by 10 MAN RR3 tourist buses. Buses of route No. 190 are temporarily tied to routes with less traffic. To what, it is not reported.
In addition, it was reported that from December 15, 8 Yutong buses of Uzavtotransservice LLC were sent to route No. 181, 3 – to route No. 120 and 5 – to express route E-1.
In total, Toshshakhartranskhizmat JSC launched 944 buses on routes. According to the main transport department of the capital, by December 16, it is planned to increase the number of buses to 1,000.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the total number of buses involved in the routes has been increased to 945. 30 Isuzu passenger buses belonging to the MIA have been allocated to the fleet. On December 15, an additional 75 buses were repaired and put on routes.
The Ministry noted that 212 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are involved in this process on 8 bus depots and routes owned by Toshshakhartranskhizmat JSC, and in addition, the metropolitan bus depots No. 7, 8 and 18 are assigned to the ministry.
