Officials of pharmaceutical agency arrested
The Anti-Corruption Agency conducted a study at the Agency for Developing Pharmaceutical Industry and the State Center for Expertise and Standardization of Medicines, Medical Devices and Medical Equipment.
According to the agency, a criminal case has been initiated in connection with a large number of financial errors and cases of gross violations of the requirements for spending budget funds. The investigation is currently being conducted by the SSS Investigation Department.
In addition, a number of officials were detained as part of a criminal investigation into the death of children diagnosed with acute renal failure due to the side effects of Doc-1 Max and Ambronol drugs.
Based on the collected evidence, the director of the Agency for Developing Pharmaceutical Industry and the SUE “State Center for Expertise and Standardization of Medicines, Medical Devices and Medical Equipment” S.K. and several of his accomplices, involved in the crimes committed, were detained. A measure of restraint in the form of detention was applied against them.
During the preliminary investigation, complex investigative and operational actions and relevant expert examinations are being carried out. The law enforcement bodies have aimed at establishing the circle of persons guilty of importing and admitting to use low-quality drugs in Uzbekistan, and giving a legal assessment of their actions.
It should be recalled that the President dismissed Sardor Kariyev, the head of the Pharmaceutical Agency, on December 30, 2022.
