IAEA allocates €2.5 million to Uzbekistan for oncology staff capacity project
The International Atomic Energy Agency announced that it intends to participate in strengthening the capacity of Uzbekistan’s specialists for the newly established national oncology center.
The next session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in which the delegation of Uzbekistan participated, concluded its work in Vienna.
During the visit, Deputy Health Minister of Uzbekistan Farrukh Sharipov held a number of meetings with agency officials.
During the meetings, the positive development of cooperation with the Ministry of Health during the implementation of IAEA safety standards on radiation protection during medical exposure was noted. The agency announced that it intends to participate in strengthening the capacity of Uzbekistan’s specialists for the newly established national oncology center. It was agreed to continue the joint work on the modernization of therapy departments of the Tashkent Oncology Dispensary.
IAEA’s intention to allocate €2.5 million for the implementation of the project to strengthen the human resources of oncology centers in Uzbekistan over the next three years can be noted as an example of concrete agreements.
Within the framework of the conference, the delegation of Uzbekistan participated in the event on “Improving quality and safety in diagnostic radiology in Central Asia”.
