Samarkand and Tianjin plan $1.6 billion industrial park with focus on electric vehicle parts and AI
The two cities are considering establishing a production line for electric vehicle parts and online sales of artificial intelligence (AI) products.
Samarkand and Tianjin are set to develop a modern industrial park, according to a statement from the regional administration.
On September 6, Samarkand Region Governor Erkinjon Turdimov met with Cheng Min’er, Secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Committee. The parties discussed potential cooperation in the fields of electrical engineering and pharmaceuticals.
The planned industrial park will be located 45 kilometers from Samarkand, in the Pastdargom district, and will cover an area of 234.3 hectares.
The estimated cost of the industrial park is $1.6 billion. The project envisions 81 manufacturing facilities within the park.
The industrial park will produce medical, textile, chemical, construction, and agricultural products.
Additionally, Erkinjon Turdimov proposed that the Chinese side consider setting up production of spare parts and components for electric vehicles in Samarkand, as well as developing online sales for artificial intelligence products.
