Uzbekistan votes in favor of UN resolution Clcalling for end to Israeli occupation and restoration of Palestinian lands

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution calling on Israel to withdraw its troops from the occupied Palestinian territories.

Uzbekistan also voted in favor of the resolution, supporting the international initiative. The resolution includes a demand to stop the construction of new Israeli settlements and to return Palestinian land and property.

The document was proposed by the State of Palestine in cooperation with dozens of other countries. As a result of the vote, 124 UN member states supported the resolution, 43 countries abstained, and 14 opposed it.

The resolution is based on the conclusion of the International Court of Justice, which in 1967 declared the occupation of Palestinian territories illegal. The document emphasizes the need to end the occupation within 12 months, and in case of non-compliance, Israel may face sanctions.

Israel categorically rejected this resolution. Israel’s permanent representative to the UN, Danny Danon, called it "a shameful decision supporting the diplomatic terrorism of the Palestinian Authority."

The United States also opposed the resolution: U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, described the document as "provocative" and stated that it does not contribute to establishing peace in the region.
