A special event was held by the administration to mark the occasion, where the millionth passenger was identified. The passenger was presented with souvenirs and a special transport card, which provides free access to public transportation for one year.
“We are pleased that the metro, as a convenient, safe, and fast mode of transport, has reached the milestone of serving one million passengers,” the statement reads.
Earlier, the metro authorities had expected to reach this milestone by November.
In the first half of this year, the Tashkent Metro averaged 724,500 passengers per day. In 2016, the metro transported 52 million people, while in 2023, this figure reached 172 million.
