On 16 October, during Russian Energy Week, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov met with Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak to discuss bilateral cooperation in the oil, gas, and electricity sectors, as well as investment projects currently underway.
The Russian government noted that Gazprom continues to fulfill its contract to supply Uzbekistan with 7.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually – 2 billion cubic meters more than in 2024.
“There are significant prospects for increasing the volume of gas supplies, including LNG,” the statement said.

In 2024, Uzbekistan imported 233,500 tons of Russian crude oil. Oil and gas companies of both countries are also exploring joint projects to develop fields with hard-to-recover reserves in Uzbekistan, the government added.
According to official data, Gazprom exported 5.64 billion cubic meters of gas to Uzbekistan last year – an increase of 4.36 billion cubic meters, or 4.4 times, compared to 2023.
Last week, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller stated that Russia had increased natural gas supplies to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan by 15% over the first eight months of the year.
