Uzbekistan and Serbia strengthen partnership with over ten new agreements

On October 28, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić held talks at the Kuksaroy residence with the participation of official delegations.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized that this first summit in the history of bilateral relations would be a historic milestone, marking a new stage in Uzbek–Serbian cooperation.

“Your official visit, taking place in the year of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, is a historic event. In Uzbekistan, there is great sympathy toward Serbia. Our peoples are bound by strong ties of friendship and a similar mindset,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The discussions prioritized strengthening trade turnover and preparing a comprehensive cooperation program in key sectors such as mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, the chemical industry, information technology and digitalization, agriculture, tourism, and other areas.

The sides highlighted the importance of developing new transport corridors connecting Central Asia and the Balkans, including within the framework of the Trans-Caspian route.

To advance the economic cooperation agenda, the parties agreed to hold the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission next year in Tashkent. They also discussed collaboration in organized labor migration, as well as in cultural, humanitarian, and educational fields.

The leaders exchanged views on current regional and international issues.

Following the talks, the presidents signed a Joint Declaration.

A ceremony was also held in the presence of both leaders to sign a package of intergovernmental and interagency documents, including:

– Agreement on the mutual promotion and protection of investments;

– Agreement on economic cooperation;

– Agreement on cooperation in the field of medical services;

– Agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism;

– Agreement on cooperation in education, science, and culture;

– Agreement on cooperation in engineering, advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and related areas;

– Protocol on cooperation in the training of diplomatic personnel;

– Inter-ministerial Cooperation Program for 2026–2027;

– Memorandum on cooperation in labor migration;

– Protocol on cooperation in sports and physical culture;

– Agreement on establishing partnership relations between Tashkent and Belgrade.
