Over 1,300 people killed in road accidents across Uzbekistan since January
A total of 5,895 traffic accidents were officially recorded in Uzbekistan between January and September 2025. These incidents resulted in 1,303 deaths and 4,592 injuries. Pedestrians were involved in 2,689 of the accidents.
The figures were presented by Qutbiddin Burkhonov, Chair of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security Issues, during the 11th plenary session of the Senate on November 1.
According to the senator, the total number of traffic accidents in the country during this period decreased by 3.8 percent compared to the same period last year – from 6,127 to 5,895 cases, a reduction of 232 incidents. The number of injuries dropped by 3.5 percent – from 4,759 to 4,592 cases (167 fewer), while fatalities declined by 4.8 percent – from 1,368 to 1,303 (65 fewer). The number of pedestrian-involved accidents also fell by 5.8 percent – from 2,855 to 2,689 cases.
Burkhonov noted that this improvement was achieved through better compliance with traffic regulations by both drivers and pedestrians, the enhancement of driver training and retraining systems, and the establishment of legal frameworks for the full digitalization of traffic management.
For reference, in 2024 a total of 9,364 traffic accidents were recorded in Uzbekistan, resulting in nearly 9,000 injuries and 2,203 fatalities.
