Tolstoy Peace Prize awarded to leaders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan
The leaders of the three countries were recognized for their significant personal contributions to strengthening peace and security in Central Asia.
The medals of the Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize were presented to the leaders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan – Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Emomali Rahmon, and Sadyr Japarov – by Valery Gergiev, chairman of the prize jury and a renowned conductor.
The three heads of state were deemed worthy of the award for their substantial personal role in reinforcing peace and security across the Central Asian region.
The Tolstoy Peace Prize was established by the Russian Historical Society and the Russian Peace Foundation. It is awarded for outstanding contributions to preventing war, building a multipolar and non-violent world, and strengthening peace.
For reference, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is currently in St. Petersburg, Russia, on a working visit.
