Tashkent to introduce protected bus lanes to improve public transport speed

Authorities in Tashkent are planning to separate dedicated bus lanes with delineators in an effort to improve the efficiency of public transport and create more convenient conditions for buses.

The initiative aims to clearly mark and physically protect the so-called “A” lanes reserved for buses. By installing delineators, officials intend to prevent other vehicles from illegally entering these lanes and to increase the average speed of public transport across the city.

According to specialists, such measures can play an important role in maintaining stable bus operations, particularly during periods of heavy traffic. In practice, passenger cars and other vehicles frequently enter lanes designated for buses, causing delays in public transport movement.

The installation of delineators is expected to help address this issue by discouraging drivers from violating traffic rules and by ensuring priority for buses on busy roads.

The new approach is also expected to bring greater convenience for passengers who rely on public transport. Authorities anticipate that buses will run more consistently according to schedule, arrive at stops on time, and operate with improved overall discipline.

Officials believe that these improvements could make public transport more attractive for residents of the capital and encourage people to choose buses instead of private cars.

For now, authorities have not disclosed which streets will be included in the initial phase of the project. Detailed information about the locations is expected to be announced in the coming days.
