Uzhydromet issues three-day mudflow and flash flood warning for nine regions of Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan’s National Center for Hydrometeorological Services (Uzhydromet) has issued a public safety warning regarding potential mudflows and flash floods in the foothills and mountainous regions of the country. The hazardous conditions are expected to persist from June 13–15 due to forecast heavy rainfall.
According to meteorologists, precipitation could lead to significant rainwater accumulation, threatening to flood localized areas. The weather authority has identified vulnerable zones across multiple regions where mudflows and flooding are highly probable.
In the southern parts of the republic, the risk spans the districts of Yakkabog, Dehkanabad, Chiroqchi, Kitob, Shahrisabz, Qamashi, and Guzar in Kashkadarya region, alongside Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altinsay, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shurchi, Qumqorgon, and Muzrabot in Surkhandarya region.
Central provinces are also on alert, including Samarkand, Urgut, Bulungur, Nurabad, Qoshrabot, Kattaqorgon, Payariq, Jomboy, and Ishtikhon districts in Samarkand region. In Navoi region, the warning covers Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimekh, and Karmana districts, while Jizzakh region faces threats in Zamin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiobod districts.
Heavy rainfall is also expected to impact Tashkent region, specifically the districts of Ohangaron, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Orta Chirchiq, and Yuqori Chirchiq, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk.
The Fergana Valley regions face a similar threat. Risks are anticipated in the Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, and Yangiqorgon districts of Namangan region; Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana, and Besharyk districts of Fergana region; and Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qorgontepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod, and Marhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad, in Andijan region.
Uzhydromet has strongly advised citizens residing in these foothill and mountainous areas, as well as tourists, holidaymakers, and drivers traveling through highland routes, to take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the three-day high-risk period.
