Kazakhstan prevents illegal transportation of Russian wheat into Uzbekistan via its territory
The channel of illegal export of Russian wheat was stopped in Kazakhstan.
On July 25, the Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) of Kazakhstan reported that the investigation into the scheme of illegal importation of Russian wheat into the territory of the country was revealed.
According to the investigation, the defendant exported 26,000 tons of Russian wheat worth more than one billion tenge (26 billion soums) to Central Asian countries (Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) in 2021-2022 with fake invoices confirming the origin of Kazakhstan. His name was not mentioned in the report.
According to the version of the FMA, the defendant evaded payments of 460 million tenge in total for transportation under the international transit tariff.
According to official data, from 2019 to May 2023, more than 450,000 tons of wheat were imported from Russia to the North Kazakhstan region. Later, this wheat was registered under the name of agricultural producers of Kazakhstan. After the documentation, the products were exported to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan as produced in Kazakhstan.
The FMA added that over the past year and a half, five people were prosecuted in Pavlodar region for issuing false invoices worth more than 5.4 billion tenge.
