Deputy district prosecutor in Fergana detained for bribery
The deputy prosecutor promised to assist in reducing the sentence of the accused and asked for $2,000.
During an operational activity conducted by the staff of the Fergana Regional Department of the State Security Service (SSS) and the Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Deputy Prosecutor of the Kushtepa district was detained while receiving a bribe.
According to the PGO, the arrested official had promised to ease the sentence of the accused person in a criminal case through his acquaintances and asked for $2,000 for his “service”.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 168 (Fraud) and Article 211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code. The suspect has been detained and an investigation is underway.
