Egypt supports Uzbekistan’s hepatitis C eradication program with medicine shipment
With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, another shipment of hepatitis C medication has been delivered from Egypt.

This humanitarian initiative is part of the effort to implement the President of Uzbekistan’s goal of fully eradicating hepatitis C in the country.
Following negotiations between the Uzbek diplomatic mission and the Egyptian Ministry of Health, an agreement was reached for the donation of 7,440 tablets of the drug Sofosbuvir-400mg, packaged in 31 boxes and valued at $114,829. The shipment arrived in Uzbekistan on May 31 via Uzbekistan Airways on the Sharm El-Sheikh – Tashkent route.
As part of Uzbekistan’s national program to eliminate hepatitis C by 2030, the medication will be distributed to patients receiving treatment at the Research Institute of Virology under the Ministry of Health.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo, during 2023–2024, the Egyptian government provided Uzbekistan with 27 humanitarian batches of Daclatasvir and Sofosbuvir, totaling 12.4 tons, to support the fight against hepatitis C.
