Baby born at Tashkent metro station
A woman gave birth to a child at the Gafur Gulyam metro station in Tashkent. The delivery was assisted by the station duty officer responsible for train arrivals and departures.
According to the press service of the State Unitary Enterprise “Tashkent Metro,” duty officer Naima Makhamadjonova was alerted by a law enforcement officer stationed in the passageway about a pregnant passenger’s condition. Correctly assessing the situation, Makhamadjonova applied her professional skills to assist with the delivery at the station.
She also took necessary measures to ensure the newborn’s health – she tied the umbilical cord and helped the baby start breathing.
An ambulance and the woman’s relatives were called to the scene. Until medical personnel arrived, metro employees monitored the mother and baby’s condition, ensuring their safety.
Both mother and child are now in good health and have been taken to the hospital.
