Uzbekistan repatriates over 25,000 citizens from the Middle East
More than 25,000 Uzbek citizens have been returned to the country from several Middle Eastern states as part of a coordinated repatriation effort.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of 07:00 on March 10, a total of 25,047 citizens of Uzbekistan had been brought back to the country.
The largest number of returnees came from Saudi Arabia, where 21,017 citizens were repatriated. In addition, 3,555 citizens returned from the United Arab Emirates, 394 from Qatar, 47 from Iran, 27 from Bahrain, and 7 from Oman.
The ministry noted that the return of Uzbek citizens is being carried out systematically and in several stages.
At present, evacuation operations are primarily being conducted from countries whose airspace remains open to civilian aviation.
Officials did not specify how long the repatriation process is expected to continue.
