Avalanche risk declared in six regions of Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan’s national hydrometeorological service, Uzhydromet, has issued an avalanche warning for mountainous areas across six regions of the country, citing expected precipitation and fluctuations in air temperatures.

According to the agency, the risk of snow avalanches is forecast for the period from 27 to 30 January 2026 in several mountainous districts of Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Samarkand, Jizzakh, Tashkent, and Namangan regions.
In Kashkadarya region, avalanche hazards are expected in the districts of Dehkanabad, Kitab, Kamashi, and Shahrisabz. In Surkhandarya, the warning covers Boysun, Kumkurgan, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts. Mountainous areas of Nurabad, Kushrabat, Samarkand, and Urgut districts in Samarkand region are also included.
In Jizzakh region, the risk has been announced for Bakhmal and Zomin districts. In Tashkent region, the warning applies to the districts of Bostanlik, Parkent, and Ohangaron, particularly in the Chatkal mountain range. In Namangan region, Pop district has been identified as an area of concern.
Uzhydromet has urged residents of mountainous areas, tourists, and drivers traveling through highland routes to take precautionary measures and remain vigilant during the warning period.
