How much will Uzbek clubs earn from the World Cup?
With Uzbekistan's final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup confirmed, attention has turned to what the tournament could mean financially for the country's domestic clubs. Of the 26 players selected, 15 represent eight Uzbek clubs, while the remaining 11 are based abroad.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) projects that Uzbekistan’s economy will expand by 6.5 percent in 2026, followed by a 6 percent growth rate in 2027. According to the bank’s latest regional report, a potential slowdown in the Russian economy and rising inflationary pressures driven by conflicts in the Middle East remain the primary risks to this outlook.

The acute shortage of rolling stock remains the primary obstacle facing the national railway system, according to Minister of Transport Ilhom Mahkamov.
