Assassination attempt on Komil Allamjonov: Doniyor Toshkhujayev sentenced to 7 years, Javlon Yunusov to 18 years

On February 12, the trial concluded at the Military Court of Uzbekistan, with a total of 10 individuals sentenced in connection with the assassination attempt on former presidential administration official Komil Allamjonov. Javlon Yunusov, accused of organizing the attack, received an 18-year prison sentence, while Doniyor Toshkhujayev was sentenced to 7 years.

Consumer and auto loan volumes decline in Uzbekistan

The volume of consumer and auto loans issued in Uzbekistan decreased by more than two times in 2024, with the most significant decline occurring in the fourth quarter, when loan issuance dropped by approximately one-third compared to the end of 2023, according to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

Deputies unanimously approve state policy on religious affairs and send it to the Senate

On February 11, during the next plenary session, the deputies of the Oliy Majlis adopted the "Concept of Ensuring Citizens' Freedom of Faith and State Policy in the Religious Sphere" and its corresponding draft law in the second and third readings, before sending it to the Senate. Once approved by the Senate and signed by the president, the document will come into effect.

The international non-governmental organization Transparency International released its 2024 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) on February 11. Uzbekistan ranked 121st out of 180 countries, with a score of 32 points on the 100-point scale.
